Thus far in 2024:

I have read 296 books, which broken down as follows:
- 26 prose books
- 20 graphic novels
- 3 books of poetry
- 247 books I read to my daughter

All of those component numbers are higher than 2023 at the same point, which says to me that I'm allowing adequate time for reading ( Read more... )

Depending on whether you count my updated baseball stats back in October, this is either my fifth or sixth 2023 year in review post. Either way, I saved the longest and most complicated list for last. The six gigs and eight bands that I saw in 2023 doesn't seem like a whole bunch, but it's 5 gigs and 7 bands more than I saw in 2022 and infinitely more than 2021. Even better, most of these shows were pretty good, or at least I was so excited about going to a show that I liked them regardless.

Once upon a time, the "Movie Year in Review" was by far my most extensive and interesting entry into the yearly "year-in-review-apalooza." Then a pandemic and a toddler happened. To recap the recent years:

As my daughter gets older, the less television I watch. Or possibly, the better I balance all the other things I want to do, and with the television being the least of those it shrinks accordingly. I went from 18 seasons of television in 2022 to 4 this year ( Read more... )

As long-time readers know, the Television Year in Review is a relatively new addition to my summaries. It started midway through 2020 as the pandemic kept me home and I couldn't ride my bike ALL the time.
